We are a family-owned hobby farm that started with just wanting to have cute chickens and some yummy eggs to eat that blossomed to amazing show quality chickens and many more animals.
ABOUT MISFIT FARM AND HOMESTEAD
We moved into our new property in 2019 only thinking of our father who had dementia and could no longer climb stairs. Never realizing the amazing journey, we would begin...
Our chicken adventure started with 2 pet quality silkies and a couple of eggs that we had no idea if they were fertile or not because we were going to eat them. Instead of eating them, we decided to buy an incubator and see if they would hatch. Our luck... we hatched 2 showgirl silkies, 2 ameraucana mixes and 1 Indian runner duck and these chickens started it all. After falling in love with these little feathered dinosaurs, we started heading in the direction of a production pen with larger birds and a show quality stock of silkies and seramas. We bred from the pet quality to winning shows 2 years later. Having great fun and wanting to give back to the community, we have been known to "gift" birds to 4h and FFA children that are interested in our breeds. We are also members and on the board of the Autism serama project that puts seramas in the hands of children on the autism spectrum to make a difference.
Hatching Eggs and bird sales
We sell hatching eggs along with juvenile chicks and adults when available. Please keep watch and we will advertise what we have for sale. We are Npip certified and are able to ship all over the states.
